Me Cards: Fostering Open Conversations and Understanding Personas

In today’s fast-paced world, fostering meaningful and open conversations can be challenging, whether in therapeutic, business, or marketing settings. MeCards, a unique card game designed by Elad Gaon, addresses this need by encouraging participants to engage in open, emotional, and exposed conversations. With 99 cards divided into three distinct decks, MeCards offers a versatile tool for various group dynamics and personal interactions.

The Inspiration and Development of Me Cards

The inspiration behind MeCards comes from Elad Gaon‘s extensive experience in leading a social anxiety group and working as a CMO as a service with startups. Over the past year and a half, Elad has been using the cards with these groups during the development stages. “Working with the social anxiety group, I noticed how challenging it was for participants to share and explain their feelings,” says Elad Gaon. “The cards provided a safe and non-judgmental environment where there’s no right or wrong answer. Participants interpret the cards and share what they mean to them, fostering open discussions.”

The themes for the three decks were carefully chosen to cover a broad range of self-perception aspects:

  1. Self-Perception: How individuals see themselves.
  2. Self in Relation to Society: How individuals perceive themselves in the context of a group or society.
  3. Self in Relation to Others: How individuals perceive themselves in intimate or one-on-one relationships.

Each card features abstract illustrations, allowing for multiple interpretations and personal reflections.

Therapeutic Benefits and Real-Life Impact

MeCards have proven to be a valuable tool in therapeutic settings, particularly in the social anxiety group led by Elad Gaon. Participants often struggle to articulate their emotions, but the cards create a platform for them to express themselves freely. “One participant shared that a particular card reminded them of a childhood experience that shaped their current feelings. This opened up a deeper conversation about their journey and emotions”. The non-judgmental and flexible nature of the cards encourages participants to explore their feelings and thoughts without fear of being wrong.

In a world where mental health awareness is growing, tools like MeCards are essential. They offer a creative and interactive way to address emotional and psychological issues, making therapy sessions more engaging and impactful.

Enhancing Business Dynamics and Creative Brainstorming

The application of MeCards extends beyond therapeutic settings. In business environments, the cards facilitate better understanding and communication within teams. “The experience in business teams is very similar to the therapeutic one. The cards enable team members to get to know each other better and address team dynamics. They can share and solve personal or professional issues openly”.

For creative brainstorming sessions, particularly with content and marketing teams, MeCards provide insights into customer personas and brand community experiences. By interpreting the cards, team members can explore different aspects of the customer journey and brand perception. This leads to more targeted and effective marketing strategies, enhancing the overall brand experience.

Versatile Usage and Modern Relevance

The versatility of MeCards lies in the numerous ways they can be used:

  1. Random Draw: Participants draw a card from each deck and discuss how it relates to them.
  2. Card Spread: A set of cards is laid out, and each participant chooses one that represents them or a significant experience. They then share and discuss why they chose that card.
  3. Improvisation: Participants take turns drawing cards and discussing a pre-agreed topic, steering the conversation based on their interpretation of the new card.

In both therapeutic and business settings, the goal is to encourage open dialogue and exposure. For marketing, the cards help clarify customer experiences and sharpen user profiles. In business, they improve team dynamics and create a more open and pleasant office atmosphere.

The Need for Games Like MeCards

In today’s society, where digital interactions often overshadow face-to-face communication, tools that foster genuine human connections are crucial. MeCards address this need by providing a structured yet flexible framework for conversations. They help break down barriers, allowing participants to share openly and honestly. Whether in a therapeutic group, a business team, or a creative brainstorming session, MeCards offer a unique way to enhance understanding, empathy, and collaboration.

MeCards are more than just a game; they are a gateway to deeper connections and better understanding, making them an invaluable tool in various settings. As Elad Gaon aptly puts it, “The true value of MeCards lies in their ability to transform ordinary conversations into meaningful dialogues, fostering a deeper connection among participants.”
